On Brexit, 17 November

May, or whoever they decide to put in her place, should : 

1. call an immediate General Election 

2. the Conservative Party's manifesto should consist of one policy 

a) to leave the EU on March 31st, 2019, with no deal. This is not a negotiating position, it is a clear statement of intent 

b) spell out precisely to the electorate what this will mean 

i) Britain trades with the EU on WTO terms 

ii) no payment of any kind is made to any part of the EU 

iii) EU citizens (other than the Irish) in the UK have the same rights as as any other non-UK passport holder 

iv) EU courts have no jurisdiction in the UK 

v) The NI/Irish Republic border reverts to what it was prior to Ireland's joining the EU. Irish citizens in the UK have the same rights that they have always had in the UK (to work, live here and to vote) vi) all UK public servants are made to sign a legally binding agreement to fully implement the above. Any civil servant refusing to do so must resign. Any civil servant found to be conniving at delaying or sabotaging the above, either actively or passively, having signed the agreement, to be sacked immediately without redress. 

vii) Any attempt by EU countries (most likely France) to impede free passage of goods under WTO rules to be met with the most severe reciprocal sanctions directed at the offending country. 

viii) Any attempt by any institution in the UK, public or private, to subvert or sabotage our exit to be treated as an act of treason. Individuals (not corporate entities) to be prosecuted for same. If the House of Lords attempt to prevent the exit, it is to be abolished forthwith, and replaced by a directly elected upper house using some form of proportional representation. I predict a Conservative landslide (and I voted for J Corbyn as Labour leader, twice)..


And today (Sat 22 Dec) I've placed a bet (I hope - online gambling not allowed in France) through AHS that we will crash out of the EU without a deal on March 31st or whenever it is. £50. Don't know what odds I'll get, or even if AHS will make the bet for me, he and LL may already be on their Christmas hols.
