Day 77 Friday 23.iii.2018

Florence Cox, Laurence Freeman, Ken Wilber, H, me - a funny cohort of 65 year olds.

throwing out emails from sukie, letters and cards from pol yesterday. letting go?

Every time we say goodbye. Tom Hanks & Christina Marsillach (looks like Sukie). I came across an email from Sukie, just after we split up, saying how devastated she was. I didn't dare to keep reading and I'm not sure what I did with it. So not a completely cathartic chucking out then.

Douglas Murray talking to Joe Rogan (about the Death of Europe) - I think at the root of the problem (of twitter storms, hate crimes, accusations of hate crimes, SJWs, gender identities etc etc) is our desperate desire to be part of a group, we need to feel we belong somewhere, but we are living in a world (created among other things by the internet and social media) which keeps undermining identities, assumptions, keeps amplifying threats and strangeness. We're all looking for a lodestone, a guiding star, a hero to follow, an enemy to hate. Interesting that Rogan and Murray (a declared non-believer) both felt that "atheists" were more prone to this (implicitly, because they do not have an other centre, a set of values that stands outside of normal human interactions and back and forth)

Creative people are characterised by fluidity, moving laterally, jumping from one thing to another. But as a result they find it difficult to establish an identity and difficult to monetize their creativity. And they upset people at the other end of the spectrum (high disgust response), because they flicker. They are good at starting things, but not so good at keeping them going. JP talking to Russell Brand, who turns out not to be a dickhead, at all.

Jung. That which you most need will be found where you least want to look. It's funny that his Red Book has been standing by my bedside for 2 years and in all that time I have never opened it.

Campbell said Follow your bliss. RB says he qualified it and later said Follow your blisters.

Burn everything off. The occult meaning of INRI. The parable of the weeds and tares in the crop, they shall be burnt off when the crop is harvested. To enter heaven, we must burn off all the rubbish.
